About the maker
I interview people for a living. Even when I’m listening closely, I sometimes leave a conversation wishing I’d asked more about something they said.
I made One Better Question to help in that moment, while the conversation is still happening. When you ask for help, it suggests one follow-up question and explains what in the conversation prompted it. You decide whether it’s worth asking.

Common questions
When is it available?
The app is in private beta, with no public release date yet. Signing up puts you on the list but doesn’t give you access.
Which Macs does it run on?
It’s a native app for Apple silicon Macs, M1 or later, running macOS 26 or later. There’s no Windows, iPhone, Android or web version.
How does it come up with a question?
A model reads the conversation text, writes the question, then explains what prompted it. You choose whether that happens in Cloud mode or privately on your Mac. You can copy the question, or set it aside for later in the conversation.
Does it speak or join the call?
No. It stays off the call, doesn’t speak and sends nothing to the other people. The card appears on your Mac’s screen, so anyone who can see your screen may see it too.
Does it work with headphones or in person?
Yes, headphones are fine on Zoom, Teams, FaceTime or any call on this Mac: choose “On a call on this Mac”.
In a room, choose “In person” and put the Mac where it can hear everyone.
For a call on your phone or another computer, choose “On a call on another device” and put it on speaker near the Mac.
Does it show what we’ve talked about?
With Apple Intelligence on your Mac, or Private mode, the bar shows the current topic, and clicking it lists the topics so far with the minute each began. Topics are identified on your Mac and aren’t saved. Without either, the list isn’t shown.
Does it save a recording or transcript?
No. The app doesn’t write audio, a transcript or the questions it suggests to disk.
What will it cost?
The price isn’t decided yet. Testing is free, and you’ll know the price before anyone asks you to pay.
